The methodology of intuition

Automatic writing

The action of writing

The concept of automatic writing existed as early as the 16th century, but in the middle of the 19th century, with the rise of the spiritual movement, the method had an impact. The strategies in conversation methods challenge my thinking process in relation to writing the automatic dialogues; they are strategies where knowledge appears in conjunction with the action of writing. To me, the act of automatic writing makes knowledge manifest. It is as if I hear my voice in the letters, and what I think emerges as words. When I read the words, I understand and interpret them precisely how I want or need them. Automatic writing gives me information and knowledge my conscious self cannot access. This method makes intuition visible and puts the knowledge I already possess into words that can be read and processed by my conscious self.

Automatic writing is a method of connecting with other intelligence and your higher self through writing. According to Eden McCoy, author of "The Art of writing automatic text," automatic writing is an energy that transfers text onto paper. The writer is not usually aware of the content of the text until the moment when the writing stops and the reading begins. Eden McCoy has written over twenty books related to metaphysical and occult topics. She has a Master's Degree in Fine Art from Butler University. However, her arguments cannot be considered as facts but as her own reflections and experiences. She believes automatic writing aims to receive comments, ideas, guidance, advice, and information from one's own higher self. It is a part of yourself and has many roles in your life. It can be your advisor, teacher, helper, and good friend.

There is not much research on automatic writing, but one artist that deserves mention is Hilma af Klint, who invented her own method of automatic painting. Hilma af Klint used this method to transform inner knowledge into paintings. She developed this method in several automatic drawings and paintings. In her practice, automatic writing and painting became a kind of reformulated thinking.

Personal definition of "higher self".

Higher self is about listening to my inner voice, an intuitive voice that guides me in different choices. It is also a gut feeling with clear reasoning with words that are weighed and tuned. When I write, I feel if the words are true or in the right context. If they can relate to my reality, what I see and experience. My higher self is also manifested in my dialogues, where the written words become clear and confirm my inner self. I feel in touch with authenticity and truth that only can be related to myself. It is about finding the genuine truth in my artistic actions
