Anna Kristina Bergman live and works in Gothenburg, Sweden. She holds a BFA (2016) and a Master of Arts in Upper Secondary Education (2021) from the University of Gothenburg.

For Anna Kristina Bergman, painting is about exploring materials and communicating a deeper presence with her surroundings. The material itself, the plastics, the ink, the tube, the colours and the latex explore and express her memories, dreams and experiences with nature. Bergman has a pantheistic* approach to her materials and the paintings place themselves in the genre of the expanded field of painting. As part of her process, she writes automatic text in which she imagines her materials communicating their desires to her. The paintings are an attempt to satisfy these desires.

*Pantheism is a philosophy of life in which all matter is animated and connected by a common universal spirit.
